What can I tell you . . .
In the spirit of Cardcaptor Sakura,
Pretty Samy, Sailor Moon and possibly even Puni Puni Poemy another Magical Girl
Anime rears it's ugly . . . ummm . . . Graces . . .
(yeah . . they'll buy that) . . . . Graces our presence.
A ditzy 17 year-old cosplay princess is entrusted with magical powers to save the world from the king of Viruses, "Ungrar", who escaped from the Vaccine world. To help her on this quest, a magical rabbit, "Mugimaru", is her constant companion, coaching her, giving advice, making rude comments and occasionally Peeping on her as well. Komugi has many things going for her . . . . ummm . . . . she's cute . . . . errr . . . ahh . . . . ummm . . . ahh . . . . . well, unlike the latest crop of anime heroines, she doesn't have to worry about her boobs getting in the way.
This is a spin-off of the anime "The
Soul Taker" but most of those characters are recast, as if they were real actors
and "NWKchan" is a look at what their real life is like. This provides many
opportunities to spoof just about . . everything, from anime (primarily
done at Tatsunoko-Pro) to "custom car street-racers" and biker-gangs, to
motivational speakers.
Nothing is safe.
There are even veiled references to padded push-up bras!
You don't need to see "The Soul Taker" to enjoy "Nurse Witch Komugi" but it might help with some "insider" jokes.
Curiously enough the fanservice images that have been published in various magazines and visual/art books are far more risqué than any of the fanservice in the actual anime. In fact throughout the anime they tempt fan boys with the promise of ecchi on the order of Najica Blitz Tactics (17+) or Ikki Tousen (16+) only to come up short, teasing and titillating. ADV rates this at 15+, I think that's really more like the target audience but most any adolescent past the age of 12 or 13 would be pretty safe, unless you live in a fairly conservative home, anyone younger probably wouldn't understand it. If you like Magical Girl/Mahou Shoujo anime spoofs you'll enjoy Nurse Witch Komugi. Plus you'll get a crash course in anime history as so much of the anime that is spoofed is Tantsunoko Production's own stuff, like Gatchaman, Tekkaman and Mach Go-go-go/Speed Racer.
