The fans at ANN seem to like this little show, giving it a solid 7.9.
I think it's a little better than that personally giving a 8.5 . . .
The first DVD & BD releases will be out 04-26-2011, for the first season.
This isn't quite as nice looking as some of the Kyo-ani shows with the use of a few animation short-cuts
in some of the episodes
BUT
you really need to look to find them, the story is that much fun.
The thing that appeals to me about this show is the fact that when these girls play together . . .
. . . they kind of suck . . . to begin with . . .
They aren't bad but, so far, they aren't that good . . . something I find to actually be,
GOD FORBID . . . somewhat realistic.
They start out like most any group of musicians, they need to practice and generally get
side-tracked with other things on the way to proficiency.
In the case of the "After-school Tea Time" they get distracted with school and snacks.
When I hung out with a band,
I was out of school so we got distracted with work, girls, drinking, and snacks.
Yes the Les Paul that Yui has is modeled after the real one that does cost $2500. BUT
You can get a nice Epiphone replica that plays almost as good for about $400, even with the Tiger Maple top.
Yui has big hands for such a little girl, (Les Pauls have about a 12 inch neck radius.)
Mio's lefty 3 color Jazz bass would set you back about $1500
but like so many things today you can get the Mexi/China-made one for about $700 but I do remember Mio checking out the Music Man Stingrays,
with lust in her heart.
The little Fender Dakota Red Mustang that Azu-nya plays is a little tricky . . .
It's a special made Mustang for a music store in Japan.
Most all Mustangs were made in Japan so proprietary ones for certain shops were not uncommon...
That they would be available in the USA is rather uncommon.
Being Azuza is a tiny gal, the Mustang with it's small neck radius, (7.5 inches), is a great choice.
I could go on about this kind of stuff but I better stop.
This is a fun show to watch, it isn't about angsty teens that can't get the guy or girl they want.
They don't pour all their unrequited love into badly worded blues tunes that are . . .
. . . annoying . . .
It's more "pop" music than anything.
Every now and then it's kind of fun to chew on some bubble-gum.
I'm hoping that I can get some more images of the girls in their cosplay outfits.
Back home.
