The concept is not really new but the character designs are quite
appealing.
Unfortunately that's all that I can really say that's good about
this show.
The premise is almost like Saturday morning cartoons in the USA,
during the 70's.
Basically a family of Priests/mages use their "Inukami" servants as
spiritual detectives and upon finding the offending
ghosts/spirits/gods dispatch them to the netherworld or oblivion,
etc.
It could be pretty comical or serious if done right. Being that most
all the demons, spirits, etc. are totally the perverted, ecchi
variety . . . . . I'll leave it to you to fill in that
thought.
After the first episode I didn't really have very high hopes for
this anime,
except that it would at least be funnier
. . .
. . . It isn't.
Just about the time you think they're gonna do something good the
writers mange to snatch defeat from the "gaping maw of victory". I
swear sometimes they HAD to BE trying their damnedest to make it
this crappy.
They might've saved a ton of money if they kept it down to about 6
episodes . . . after that they wouldn't have had to make the 20 that
were just filler.
I bestow a
whopping 4.5 on this steaming bowl of spooge.
It just drags on for too long and
the occasional high points are several episodes apart.
If you liked monumental animation like Scooby Doo and you are ready
for pointless fanservice and a plot that doesn't really do anything,
(oh shit, that sounds like a bunch of shows I actually like),
you
might find this acceptably mundane.
{JeeeeZus they even tie up the villains at the end.}
They did get a few notable seiyu/voice actors for this anime so I
wonder if they were working on something better that just didn't
happen.
Or I might not have the "right" sense of humor.
The fanservice-y images that seem to abound for
this anime are hard to ignore.
(NO pun intended, at least not consciously anyway). |
